From 6 to 29 July, listen for the 61K Mega Birthday Drop Song.
When you hear the tagged birthday song, SMS “61K”, followed by the song title, artist name, your name and ID number to 37766. SMSs cost R1.50 each and free SMSs do not apply.
Every day one lucky listener will be called live on air.
Answer with: “Good Hope FM’s 61K Mega Birthday Drop!”
Then correctly identify the song and artist, answer Good Hope FM related question, and you could become one of our finalists!
Then on Friday 31 July, one finalist will walk away with R61 000 cash!

GOOD HOPE FM – COMPETITION T’s & C’s
1. All Good Hope FM competitions are conducted in accordance with the provisions of Section 54 (1) of the Lotteries Amendment Act (46 of 2001).
2. Good Hope FM competitions are open to all South Africans, residing in South Africa over the age of 18, unless otherwise stated. Competitions are not open to employees, agencies, prize sponsors, or contractors of Good Hope FM, the SABC or any person directly or indirectly involved in the organisation or running of the competition, or their immediate family members.
3. No person may enter the same or any other competition hosted partly or in whole by Good Hope FM within three (3) months (i.e., 90 days) of winning the same or any other competition hosted partly or in whole by Good Hope FM.
4. The judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
5. Prizes other than cash are not transferable, cannot be deferred or exchanged for cash and are not negotiable.
6. Winners use and accept prizes at their own risk. Good Hope FM, the SABC and the prize sponsors (and/or their respective agencies) cannot be held responsible for any accident, injury, or loss of property experienced as a result of winning, accepting and/or utilising prizes won.
7. Prizes not collected/claimed within 6 months of being won will be disposed of at Good Hope FM’s discretion.
8. By entering Good Hope FM competitions, entrants agree to adhere to competition rules and regulations, details of which entrants declare themselves conversant with.
9. Any violation or attempt to violate any of the above rules will result in the immediate disqualification of the transgressor.
10. Good Hope FM may disqualify a transgressor for entry into any other Good Hope FM competitions, for a period deemed appropriate by Good Hope FM Management.
11. Good Hope FM and the prize sponsors reserve the right to cancel the competition at any time, if deemed necessary in their opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of their control and shall not be liable to entrants in such event for any cause or action whatsoever.
12. Winners may be required to have their details disclosed and appear on radio, television, the internet or in printed publications.
13. Good Hope FM reserves the right to alter rules or prizes at their own discretion. Such altered rules and prizes shall become effective immediately after being altered or on such date as may be determined by Good Hope FM. No entrant shall have any recourse against Good Hope FM as a result of the alterations of the rules or prizes.
14. Good Hope FM will make every reasonable effort to deliver the prize described in the promotion’s publicity but cannot accept responsibility if the prize differs in whole of part from that advertised. Similarly, prize values quoted may differ from the actual value of the prize.
15. Winning a competition is only finalised once the winner’s name is announced on air or on any Good Hope FM digital platform. 16. The announcement of a winner on air or on www.goodhopefm.co.za does not constitute a ruling by station management that the winner has complied with the rules above.
17. Good Hope FM may disqualify the entrant after the announcement should any rule transgressions be discovered.
18. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for delivery/collection of prizes, allow 8 to 10 weeks for payment of cash prizes.
In addition to the Good Hope FM Competition Terms and Conditions, the below conditions also apply for the Good Hope FM 61K Mega Birthday Drop for July 2026.
Good Hope FM 61K Mega Birthday Drop Competition T’s & C’s
1. The competition will run from Monday, 6 July until Wednesday, 29 July 2026.
One (1) finalist to be selected during one show on every weekday (Monday to Friday) between 06:00 and 18:00 only. A total of eighteen (18) finalists would have been selected by the end of the Good Hope FM 61K Mega Birthday Drop Competition before 11:00 on Wednesday, 29 July 2026. The final draw for the overall winner (one winner only) will take place between 09:00 and 12:00 on Friday, 30 July 2026.
2. To participate, listeners need to send and SMS with the keyword 61K followed by their name, surname, and ID number, to the Good Hope FM SMS Line on 37766, taking note that SMS’s are charged at R1-50 each and free SMS do not apply. SMS’s may be submitted from Monday, 06 June until Wednesday, 29 July 2026.
3. The finalists selected from entries received will be phoned during one of the shows between 06:00 and 18:00 from Monday, 6 July until Wednesday, 29 July 2026 only.
4. Once a listener receives the call live on air they must start their response with the phrase “Good Hope FM’s 61K Mega Birthday Drop”, before they utter any other form of greeting. The call will be terminated should they fail to do so, and a second participant will be selected and phoned live on air. After answering the call with the phrase “Good Hope FM 61K Birthday Bonanza”, the selected listener will be announced as a finalist for that day. Should the person selected fail to answer the call, a second participant will be selected and phoned live on air.
5. The eighteen (18) finalists selected MUST be present in at the Good Hope FM studio located at 209 Beach Road, Sea Point, Cape Town between 09:00 and 12:00 on Friday, 31 July for the final draw. Any finalist unable to attend the final draw will be excluded from the draw.
6. The winner will be selected at random.
7. The winner will be announced live on air.
8. The winner will be contacted directly by Good Hope FM on-air promotions/administrative department to request personal and banking details, in order to process the payment of their prize money.
9. The prize of the Good Hope FM 61K Birthday Bonanza Competition winner is R61 000 (sixty-one thousand rands) only.
10. The prize is cash only.
11. All entrants must be 18 years or older to enter.
12. Judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
13. Winners will be contacted live on-air, and thereafter via e-mail by Good Hope FM Promotions department.
14. By entering this competition, you voluntarily submit your personal details to Good Hope FM (SABC) as per the competition entry form. By entering, you consent to Good Hope FM collecting and processing this data as required for the competition. 15. Entrants enter this competition of their own free will. By entering, all entrants confirm that they have the legal capacity to enter the competition.
16. The eighteen (18) finalists and one (1) winner for the Good Hope FM 61K Mega Birthday Drop Competition selected is final, and no reasons will be provided for such decisions. All entrants agree to not challenge or appeal such decisions.
17. Good Hope FM will contact all winners directly to obtain information to populate the necessary SABC prize winner documents.
18. All winners will need to submit the required documents, Proof of bank account details and a copy of South African ID.
19. Should a winner utilize a bank account that is not in their name, they will be required to send and affidavit by both the owner of the account and the winner, to grant permission to the SABC to transfer money into the account of the owner of the bank account.
20. All entrants agree not to engage in any activities that violate any law, offend against public morals, or embarrass Good Hope FM or the SABC in any way.
21. By entering the competition, all entrants confirm that they can enter the competition and have no conflicting legal obligations.
22. Should the entrant breach any of these terms, Good Hope FM may disqualify the entrant at any state of the programme, without compensation, as an entrant, contestant, or winner of the competition.
23. By entering the competition, all entrants understand and accept these terms and conditions.
