NO BETTER WAY TO SPEND FREEDOM DAY THAN A FREE CONCERT WITH WORLD-CLASS TALENTS, WHITNEY APRIL AND FONZO

This Freedom Day, Good Hope FM, Cape Town’s Original, will be showcasing the world-class talents of social media star turned international recording artist, Whitney April, and powerhouse rapper and producer, Fonzo, with a free concert at the SABC Sea Point Auditorium on Thursday, 27 April 2023.

Saaiman Says Live Sessions have become a firm fan favourite with Capetonians, and
this session will again see the artists enthralling a packed live audience with their
favourite songs in an intimate setting between 19h00 and 20h00. Good Hope FM’s
Chad Saaiman will be getting up close and personal with the artists during their sets,
catching up with them and getting the latest news about their lives and careers.
Cape Town born Whitney April made a name for herself during the COVID-19
lockdown with acapella renditions of songs such as “Part of Your World” from the
Disney animated film “The Little Mermaid,” Hillsong Worship’s “Here I Am to
Worship,” and Adele’s “Easy on Me” which have earned millions of streams.
Her videos quickly made her an on-demand favorite among millions of TikTok
enthusiasts and soon caught the eye of some big names, like Wade Jordan,
manager of GRAMMY® Award winning R&B singer and Maroon 5 keyboardist PJ
Morton, Yolanda Adams’ music director, Rodney East and GRAMMY® Award
winning engineer James Auwarter, who worked on both Kanye West’s breakthrough
Late Registration project and Rihanna’s “A Girl Like Me”.

She’s been profiled on the SABC’s Expresso TV Show, The Weekend Argus, various
local radio stations as well as Sirius XM satellite radio in New York City. The up-andcoming
Inspirational Pop artist now has a global recording and management deal
with the Arete Records team, which is aiming to turn her into a global sensation.
“I believe that God put me in this place where people who feel like there’s no hope
can be encouraged through my voice,” she says. “I’m just a vessel”, she says.
Gqeberha born, Cape Town-based rapper & producer FonZo is en route to becoming
one of South Africa’s finest.

FonZo’s sharp lyricism & expansive production has led to him gracing some of the
most prestigious stages the country has to offer – the most recent being the 2022
instalments of both Rocking The Daisies & Cotton Fest at the end of last year. His wide
range of media appearances include two appearances on SBTV (leading British music
media company with 1mil+ YT subscribers), multiple features in Hype Magazine, an
SABC 1 SA Hip-Hop Documentary, GoodHope FM, 5FM (including two Number 1
songs on their local Top 5 chart) & many others.

FonZo has also collaborated with Ganja Beatz, Costa Titch, YoungstaCPT & has
shared the same stage with many titans in the industry.
Saaiman Says Live Sessions are a monthly calendar highlight in Cape Town and this
session promises to be as hot as it gets! Entrance to the event is free, but, due to high
