SABC Radio Sales is looking for an Account Executive in the Western Cape

Main purpose of the position:

To generate and maximise sales revenue and optimize station targets for Radio Sales within the designated portfolio of agencies.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Maximise Radio Sales revenue through developing sales targets in conjunction with line manager
  • Identify and exploit new business opportunities
  • Analyse and evaluate current business, competition and market trends to identify revenue opportunities
  • Evaluate lost/dropped business by agency / client
  • Take comprehensive client briefs and close sales deals 
  • Ensure that contracts are delivered timeously to agency / clients 
  • Follow up on leads timeously 
  • Develop pro-active client initiatives 
  • Facilitate workshops with agency/clients in order to generate sales 
  • Provide effective after sales service and communicate results of advertising campaign to clients to ensure future business
  • Develop and present proposals to agency/clients to generate sales 
  • Ensure SABC policies and procedures are adhered to 
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports
  • Build and maintain close relations with agency/clients through understanding their business and media needs 
  • Handle all client requests and enquiries effectively and timeously 
  • Provide input with regards to the commitment negotiation process



  • A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. IMM, AAA) or equivalent
  • 3 years media sales experience with an excellent sales track record 
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships and customer service orientated
  • Thorough understanding and interpretation of  industry tools and knowledge of Telmar, RAMS and AMPS
  • Understanding of advertising industry and established networks and relationships with key decision makers within the industry 
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Analytical with ability to take decisions and solve problems
  • Business acumen and commercially orientated 
  • Able to work independently but also a team player
  • Organised with excellent planning and time management skills 
  • Computer literate (MS Office)
  • Passion for radio and knowledge of SABC radio stations will be an added advantage
  • Energetic and results orientated person who has a desire to succeed 
  • Persuasive with excellent selling skills and tenacity
  • Valid driver’s license (code 08) and own transport
  • Able and willing to work irregular hours
