18 Jul 2022 09:00 AM - 03:00 PM past event
CTICC Hall 1
CBD, Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa.
On Mandela Day, 18 July 2022, Capetonians will bear witness to a world record attempt for a phenomenal cause.
Good Hope FM and Ladles of Love are attempting to break the world record for the world’s largest mosaic created entirely out of food cans, with every can collected for the mosaic being donated to communities in need.
The current food can mosaic world record, held by Doordash in the USA, stands at a whopping 52.39 square meters and the team will aim to break this with an even more massive 24.975-meter x 18.92-meter mosaic to celebrate Madiba.
The event will be taking place in Cape Town at the CTICC (Hall 1), with Good Hope FM’s The Morning Show with Leigh-Anne Williams and The Good Vibez with DJ Ready D broadcasting live from the venue, with the world record announcement set to be made between 14:30 and 14:45.
“Good Hope FM is Cape Town’s original radio station and it’s an immense honour for us to be part of this wonderful initiative,” says Good Hope FM Programme Manager, Gerard Muller. “Whether it’s on-air or with events, we’re well-known for pushing the boundaries, and what better way to do it than to celebrate our colourful, powerful nation, with a brand-new world record, in the Mother City, on Mandela Day.”
