Good Hope FM Campus DJ Search
From mid-September, Good Hope FM will give students at various campuses across the Peninsula the opportunity to secure on-air training at the station during the Good Hope FM Campus DJ Search made brighter by MTN Pulse.
The aim of this search is to find the best on-air DJ from participating campuses around the city, namely; the University of the Western Cape (UWC), Stellenbosch University, Northlink College (Tygerberg Campus), Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) District Six and Cape Peninsual University of Technology (CPUT) Bellville.
The station will also open the floor for students who attend other universities and independent tertiary institutions and they will have the opportunity to enter as wild cards at V&A Waterfront to test their skills in the Campus DJ Search.
“We are continually on the lookout to discover young fresh talent who aspire to be in the broadcasting industry and who can add to our dynamic line-up which consists of Dan Corder, Danilo Acquisto, Leigh-Anne Williams, Kyeezi, Geri Saunders and Celest Anthony, who cut their broadcasting teeth on campus radio, “We believe that this this will be a great opportunity and fun way to find hidden talent” says Acting Station Manager, Mr. Natano Brache.“
The General Manager for MTN Western Cape Region, Mr. Christopher Hopkirk stated that “MTN is always looking for new ways of engaging our customers particularly the youth. We recently launched MTN Pulse, which is a youth platform that gives our younger customers access to exclusive content and tailor-made offerings. We are proud to partner with cool brands such as Good Hope FM’s Campus DJ Search which speaks to our efforts around youth development.”
Any student who believes that they are the next well-versed motor mouth, smooth, clued up, conversational on-air DJ with a pinch of attitude will be considered. Good Hope FM will visit five campuses and the V&A Waterfront, select a finalist from each of those venues and choose a successful candidate who will win a Dell XPS 8th Gen i7 Laptop and the opportunity to train at Good Hope FM. The individual campus and wild card winners will win a Pioneer DJ HDJ-X5 headphones.
Most campuses will be visited over a two day period (with the exception of the University of Stellenbosch, CPUT District Six and V&A Waterfront that will hand entries on one day only). The first day will be an open MIC session, where anyone will have an opportunity to showcase their talent and the panel of judges will then choose a group of finalists. On day two, the finalists from that campus will get to compete again in order for the panel of judges to then choose one person who will represent their campus in the final, on-air leg of this competition. Once all the venues have been visited and a representative (finalist) from each venue has been selected, each finalist will get the opportunity to showcase their talent on-air alongside Kyeezi host of The Great Drive (Mondays to Thursday from 15:00 to 18:00). The judges will then determine who the overall winner will be.
Kyeezi, host of The Great Drive and Campus DJ Search alumni, will be the MC at all the campuses to guide all the contenders through the judging process. The rotating panel of judges will include Gerard Muller (Programme Manager), Grant Lesch (Programming), Meegan Kieffer (Marketing Manager), Dan Corder (Host of the Good Hope FM Breakfast Show), Dalin Oliver (Sport Presenter and Co-Host of Happy Hour), Sandra Rosenberg (News Presenter on Good Hope FM Breakfast Show) and Stan Mars (Host of The Works).
