My name is Khan
Rizwan Khan, a Muslim child who has Asperger syndrome, grew up with his mother (Zarina Wahab) in the Borivali section of Mumbai who taught him that…”There are only two kinds of people in this world…good people who do good things and bad people who do bad things..” in order to teach him to never discriminate. As an adult (Shahrukh Khan), Rizwan falls in love with a Hindu single mother, Mandira (Kajol) who lives in San Francisco. While not focusing on the events of 9/11, the storyline explores the period afterwards. At that time, authorities arrest and detain Rizwan, after interpreting the visible aspects of his condition as "suspicious" behaviour. This is a touching story of how people almost destroy one another through intolerance, discrimination and hate but also leave the viewer with the assurance that we can “save” each other and live in a very pleasant world if we could only learn acceptance, tolerance and understanding for one another and our religious differences. Beautiful cinematography, plenty of laughs and there will be a tear or two to be wiped away…..
This movie will screen at cinemas from 12 February 2010
